I can't listen to this Bonnie Raitt song without getting a little teary eyed.

If ARMAGEDDON Came, Would YOU Repent?
by Cold Steel inthe day finally comes.
you get up one day with the nagging feeling that it's going to be different.
you get dressed, get in the car, then notice how dark the weather's getting.

You've got an over active imagination, and your question is so absurd it's not even worth answering.
You're implying that I was born with some innate stain or defect that I need to repent for? Well, I don't believe that.

Bizarre, nonsensical answer from JW.org on their FAQ page...
by Muddy Waters inthe answer on the faq page makes no sense.
the question is: "why don't you call your meeting place a church?".
the answer makes no sense at all.

Resistance is Futile
The following quote is from their site.
In the Bible, the Greek term that is sometimes translated "church" refers to a group of worshippers...
So when they meet in a Kingdom Hall as a group of worshippers they are, you guessed it... a church. When you talk about the collective group known as Jehovah's Witnesses, whom are a group of worshippers, you would be correct in calling it a church.
The Watchtower writers are so used to spewing nonsense they don't even realize when they contradict themselves.

exJW Psychology 102--How to Ask a Question When Questions Aren't Allowed
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite innow that enough time has passed and i've moved away, i think i'm overdue to share some of the stories from my fade.
i've mentioned some of this before, but i think it deserves its own thread.. we all would like to be able to freely ask questions about jw beliefs and get our family and friends to really think about certain questions.
however, when you're a baptized jw, you really can't ask any good questions or you'll get the "apostate" label slapped on you!

Great thread Billy. Clearly you've spent some time in the kitchen studying some of Satan's better recipes.
JWs have to come to the difficult yet honest realization that their religion and its many "unique" doctrines simply can't stand up to scrutiny.
I ran into a group of JWs street witnessing recently and engaged them in conversation without letting on what I know about the Watchtower cult. Within a few minutes the lady somewhat randomly blurted out "Jehovah has always had an organization". Bear in mind I really hadn't asked anything up to that point which would have warranted that particular response. Slightly taken aback, yet willing to play, I politely asked, "What organization was Jehovah using in the 1700s"? To which I received a stunned expression of confusion and silence. These were older women that had spent decades in the religion. I was dumbfounded that this women had simply never thought about such a basic question.

"Going Home" always get to me. I see it as a metaphor for passing on, "home" being whatever a person might believe about an afterlife.
It's not far, yes close by
Through an open door
Work all done, care laid by
Going to fear no more
Mother's there 'specting me
Father's waiting, too
Lots of folk gathered there
All the friends I knew
All the friends I knew
I'm going home
Nothing lost, all's gain
No more fret nor pain
No more stumbling on the way
No more longing for the day
Going to roam no more -

I hesitate in reading too much into a difference in count at a DC.
With that said, after listening to the "apostate" talk in the video Nicsfreedom linked, one thing is very clear.
The Governing Body is scared. They're scared of the internet, scared of the fact that so much of the precious organization's embarrassing past of teaching falsehoods is just a click away. They're scared of anyone that won't obey them, as shown by their heavy-handed approach in labeling anyone with a contrary opinion as ones causing divisions and serving satan.

What about your vow to Jehovah?
by a watcher indid you get baptized without being dedicated?.
why did you allow men to come between you and jehovah?.
why were you serving jehovah at all?
-
Resistance is Futile
a watcher inadvertently revealed a serious flaw in the worldview put forth by the Governing Body of the Watchtower corporation and subsequently repeated by many Jehovah's Witnesses. The Governing Body insidiously infers that the Organization=Jehovah. Therefore, leaving the organization is equivalent to leaving Jehovah.
a watcher, can you not see that the organization itself has become a golden calf that well-meaning yet misled Jehovah's Witnesses direct their worship towards? Can you not see that the Governing Body has put themselves in the place of Jehovah by arrogantly claiming that disagreeing with their ever-changing interpretations of "truth" is the same as disagreeing with Jehovah?
The premise of your thread, that renouncing allegiance to an earthly organization is comparable to leaving Jehovah God, is blasphemous.
Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life nor angels nor governments nor things now here nor things to come nor powers nor height nor depth nor any other creation will be able to separate us from God's love that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Since Great Crowd has no mediator
by sosoconfused ini am thinking that maybe i missed this discussion or something.
now for years in the org i never ever paid attention to the article that says jesus is the mediator for the 144000 alone.
yesterday talking to my 70+ year old dad he got violently angry with me and threw his cane at me because he said i was a liar.. .

Honestly, does it really matter? I'm atheist now, so it's all rubbish to me.
I suspect that to Jehovah's Witnesses that mistakenly believe that Jesus is their Mediator, it does matter.
Never discount the power of certain topics on lurking Jehovah's Witnesses. I can only hope that someday members of my family will gather up the courage to research their religion. And they might stumble on a site like this where they'll learn for the first time that Christ Jesus is not their Mediator. You never know which topic might be the trigger for Jehovah's Witnesses to begin to see the truth about the "truth".
